Rescheduled: The Wissahickon in February with Debbie Hoellein & Jim McClory

February 23 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This event has been rescheduled to 2/26 due to muddy trails. Register for the new date here.

Join Debbie and Jim as we hike the Wissahickon in February. Beautiful vistas should still be apparent this month. Although we won’t be seeing frogs, we’ll be visiting the bench and plants dedicated to a beloved trail ambassador. And we’ll look at some beautiful rocks at a cave where gold was not found. It’s always fun to see what trees and plants we can identify before they all have leaves. We’ll see some birds, but may not be able to see other fauna in the morning this time of year. As always, we will also be visiting some places of historical interest.

This hike is about 4 miles long. You can expect some steep and rocky trails on our route. Children 12 years of age and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but no dogs except for service animals, please.

Distance: ~4 miles

Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)

Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.

Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Claire Brennan at brennan@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
